In contrast Irish Bred horses have won just 3 of the last 14 renewals from a pool of 41 runners. This is 47% worse than expected. Experience wins the day in the Duke of York

In the Duke of York Stakes horses aged 5 or older have a much better record than 3 and 4 year olds. 5yo+ horses have won 11 of the last 16 renewals from a pool of 130 runners. This is 26% above expectations and you could have backed them all for a £19 profit to Sp for a £1 stake on each. On the flip side 3 and 4yo's have won the remaining 5 renewals from 86 runners, which is 30% worse than expected.

Weight no burden in the Duke of York

The top or joint top weights in the Duke of York Stakes have won 5 of the last 16 renewals form a pool of just 54 runners over those 16 years. This is 19% better than expected and produced a profit of £43 to a £1 stake. The joint top weighted runners this year are Society Rock and Gordon Lord Byron.
