5 telling stats for the Temple Stakes

May 22th, 2015

The Group 2 Temple Stakes is the feature on the racecard at Haydock and in this week’s blog post we use our horse racing software to analyse every Temple Stakes winner since 1997 to uncover five key facts for this Group 2 five furlong sprint event.

Younger Horses Perform Well

Winners aged 3 (three), 4 (four) and 5 (five) have won 12 of the last 17 renewals.

If you could have backed all of these horses you would have made a profit of £10.40 to a £1 stake at Betfair Starting Prices.

A Recent Run is Beneficial

From a population of 36 qualifies, 5 of the last 17 winners had previously run within the last 14 days. This performance is 74% better than expected and is profitable to a £1 stake at Betfair Starting Prices of £21.67.

Poor Performing York Runners

Horses arriving at Haydock after previously running at the Dante meeting underperform by 32%. Of the 37 runners that ran at York prior to the Temple Stakes, only 3 have won!

Newmarket Form is Strong

Our horse racing statistics discovered that runners which ran at Newmarket last time out are perform 36% better than expected with 8 winners in the last 17 renewals from a pool of 55 horses.

Classy Runners Run Well

4 of the last 17 winners ran in a Group 1 last time out. This is from just 14 who have tried for a 29% strike rate and is 62% better than expected.
