July 19th, 2013

Run Profile

Using the horse runs profiling tool in Proform we can see that the optimum number of runs in the last year, 3 months and 1 month for the Sper Sprint are, 2 to 5 runs in the last year, 2 to 5 runs in the last 3 months and just 1 final prep run in the last month. Horses fitting this run profile have won 11 of the last 15 renewals from 166 runners, which is 34% above expectations. Horses fitting this profile running today are :- Orton Park, Alutiq, Meritocracy, Biography, Eccleston, Hopefilly, Khalice, Oasis Town and Morning Post.

Draw

Horses drawn in stalls 1 and 2 have won 4 of the last 15 renewals from 30 runners with a further 4 of these placing. They are winning way above expectations (128%) albiet from a small sample. However it is backed up by the overall draw statistics for 12 runner+ 5f sprints at Newbury. Horses drawn 1 and 2 this year are :- Lilbourne Lass and Gym Shoes.

Trainer

The trainer with most winners in the last 15 years is Richard Hannon (not surprising really given his profile with 2 year olds). he has had 4 winners and a further 5 placed horses BUT this is from 63 runners so his actually below expectations. For future reference Tim Easterby has a good record in the Super Sprint with 3 winners from 14 runners with 2 others placing, however he has no runners this year. William Haggas is the next best with 2 winners from just 6 runners and a further two of these placed, so 4 from 6 win and place. Richard Hannon has the following runners this year Biography, Bird of Light and Lilbourne Lass. William Haggas runs Haikbidiac.

Group Race Last Time Out

7 of the last 15 winners of the Super Sprint ran in a Group race last time out from just 46 runners producing a profit of £19 to a £1 stake at SP. This is 88% above expectations based on the prices the runners were sent off. This year we have the following runners coming out of a group race last time out :- Alutiq and Eccelston.

Course Last Time Out

12 of the last 15 winners ran at either Newmarket or Ascot last time out. This is from 85 runners and is 82% better than expected. This years runners who ran LTO at Ascot or Newmarket are :- Alutiq, Der Blaue Reiter, Haikbidiac and Eccleston.

Summary

Eccleston and Alutiq qualify on 3 of the stats above, while qualifying on two counts are Haikbidiac, Biography and Lilbourne Lass
