Country of Breeding

British Bred horses have not been having a good time overall with 5 winners from the last 16 renewals from 205 runners.  This is 30% below expectations. Horses Bred anywhere else have a record of 11 wins from 16 renewals from nearly the same amount of runners (211) and are running 40% above expectations. It is notable that USA Breds have done well from a small sample with 2 winners from 35 runners (both since 2008) and are represented today by York Glory and  Bapak Chinta.    

Market

The front 4 in the market have won 11 of the last 16 renewals from 70 runners. This is 46% above expectations. All 11 were no greater than 14/1. Horses currently at the front of the market are :-  Duke Of Firenze, Rex Imperator, Gabriels Lad, Nocturn, Hitchens, Ladyship, York Glory.    

Last Time Out Finishing Position

Horses which won last time out are currently under performing by around 17% (understandably the price will be shorter on horses with a win LTO). They have won just 3 of the last 16 renewals from 72 runners. The better performers are those which finished 2nd or 3rd last time out, which combined have won 9 of the last 16 renewals from 93 runners and would have returned a £60 profit to a £1 level stake at SP.  This bunch are performing 108% above expectations. The qualifiers today are :- Royal Rock, Dinkum Diamond, York Glory, Rex Imperator, Gabriel's Lad, Prodigality, Glass Office and Poole Harbour (res).    

Draw

Low draws have held sway in the last 16 renewals with with stalls 1 to 6 having a particularly good win and place record of 5 wins and 10 placed horses from 90 runners.  This is 59% above expectations. The 6 lowest drawn horses are :- Royal Rock, Hitchens, Palace Moon, Mass Rally, Boomerang Bob, Secret Witness and Yeeoow (res).    

Age

4 and 5 year olds have the best record winning 12 of the last 16 renewals, which is 24% above expectations. The poorest group are horses aged 7 and older who have won just 1 renewal from 80 runners. Negative horses aged 7 and over running today are :- Regal Parade, Royal Rock, Ancient Cross, Hitchens, Palace Moon, Zero Money and Secret Witness.
