Actual Going

Info:

The actual going differs from the official going in that it is calculated from the going allowance recorded for the meeting that the race you are viewing was part of. The actual going is a much better representation of the going on the day the meeting took place. This also means it can be a much better pointer to what type of going a horse acts upon.

Enhanced Actual Going

Info:

So what is enhanced actual going?

In the process of creating the Proform speed figures each morning from the previous days results we at the same time, create a going adjustment.

Basically this is a positive or negative figure, which is how much the going at each course was speeding up or slowing down the horses per mile.

If the going adjustment (GA for short) was 0 then the ground at that course on that day was neither speeding them up or slowing them down, which on grass would equate to an Enhanced Actual Going of GOOD ground and on the A/W would be STANDARD.

If the ground was very bad at a course then the GA would be a negative value and the bigger the negative the worse the ground and this is where our Enhanced Actual Going comes up trumps.

Currently the general list of Official Gong descriptions range from Heavy through to Firm, however at the boggy end of the scale there are many more variations that could be used and to this end using the GA values we have the following extra Enhanced Actual Going descriptions.

Soft
Very Soft
Heavy
Very Heavy
Extremely Heavy
Bottomless
Extremely Bottomless

We have added these into the form lines on the race guides when you hover over the official going, like this:-

So how can these GA's be used?

When the ground is very bad there are some horses who just can’t handle it and of course there are some that can, in fact, there are some horses that will only show any kind of form when the going is way beyond heavy!

You now have the tools to find the right horses in the worst ground.

Going Adjustments

Info:

Going Adjustments

We have always created going adjustments (GA) internally, which we use to create the Proform Speed Figures, however we have never released them, until now.

GA’s show you have much the ground on the day was speeding up or slowing down horses in seconds per mile.

A going adjustment of 0 would represent perfect Good ground in races on turf or perfect Standard ground on the a all-weather surface.  We then have positive or negative GA’s to varying degrees.

GA Lookup Table

GA’s are very useful particular when the ground is extremely slow.  You can see in the table we have the standard going descriptions ranging from Firm to Heavy and Fast to Slow but particularly in races on grass we four more going descriptions for when the ground is very bad.

There are some horses, sires, dams and damsires that only show their best when performing in demanding conditions and GA’s in Proform will allow you to find these horses on days when the ground is truly terrible.

So, what have we added to the Proform Software regarding GA’s?

System Builder
There is a new GA field in the system builder in the race tab.

You can present by GA in the presentation screen in the system builder

You can add GA to system builder drill downs in the system builder preferences tab, which means you use this for exporting GA’s.

Form Book
When viewing a result in the form book dataview the actual going and GA are show in the header

Horse Form
When viewing a horses form a column for GA was added.

NOTE: The new field will be at the very right-hand side of the fields, you may need to scroll sideways to find it.  You can then move it where you wish etc.

Prior Form
GA is added to prior form screen.

NOTE: The new field will be at the very right-hand side of the fields, you may need to scroll sideways to find it.  You can then move it where you wish etc.

Calendar
When viewing the calendar for a past days racing the GA is shown with lots more new fields.

Form Book Filters

GA has been added to the form book main filters screen on the race related filters tab.

This means you can create any number of filters to quickly filter form in the form book using GA’s.

To refresh yourself on how filters work visit this help link.

We have also changed the distance filters to yards on the same screen.  This is because the old method contains a bug when new distances were introduced which meant filters kept breaking.

By using yards instead this fixes that issue.

Glossary of New Fields

New fields on horse form tab

We have added the in running lows and highs and percentages from the in running tab to the form tab too for continuity.

PRB - This is the percentage of rivals beaten (PRB) that this horse has beat in each run. Colour Coded, see chart.

PosVsSPRank – This set 1 if the finishing position was better than the horse’s SP (Industry) rank and -1 if it wasn’t.  This can be used as an indicator of a horse running better than the odds expect.  However PRB is introduced also and this is likely a better indicator of good form.

SP_Rank – This is the rank of the industry SP the horse went off at.

PowR – This is the rank of the power Rating (UR1)

New fields on in running tab

We added a few fields to the in running tab, which are jockey and trainer, powr rank, qual, actual going, odds decimal and headgear.

New fields on race cards and results screen

Filters

All these fields work with form book filtering, for instance if you filter a race to only show AW form then all the values for the fields below reflect this.

This makes the trading figures truly powerful because you can filter to conditions more like today using the quick filters and the more advanced filters.

The quick filters look like this above the race card

The advance filters are behind this button on the right

Field Explanations

fPRB – This is the mean of the percentage of rivals beaten (PRB) that this horse has beaten in all runs currently filtered. Colour Coded, see chart.

50% Low SR – This is the strike rate of the amount of times the horse has traded 50% or lower in running than it’s Betfair SP (BSP). Great for spotting B2L’s, Dobb’s and Trobb’s. Colour Coded, see chart.

70% Low SR - This is the strike rate of the amount of times the horse has traded 70% or lower in running than it’s Betfair SP (BSP). Great for spotting B2L’s, Dobb’s and Trobb’s. Colour Coded, see chart.

FRuns – This is the number of runs the horse has had using the current filters.  This field allows you to see how many runs the traded percentages are using.

FWins - This is the number of wins the horse has had using the current filters. This field allows you to see how many wins the traded percentages are using.

50% High SR - This is the strike rate of the amount of times the horse has traded 50% or higher in running when it won a race or races than it’s Betfair SP (BSP).  This is something that is useful to know when trading a horse as a Lay 2 back (L2B). Colour Coded, see chart.

12 Tick Higher SR - This is the strike rate of the amount of times the horse has moved up 12 ticks or higher in running when it won a race or races than it’s Betfair SP (BSP).  This is something that is useful to know when trading a horse as a Lay 2 back (L2B). Colour Coded, see chart.

PvSTotL3 – This is the total from last 3 runs of the PosVsSPRank from the horse form tab.

We have added trading percentages to the both the pattern matcher and trainer trends, which make both tools very powerful allowing you to determine the best trading angles for horses and trainers.

50%SR - This is the strike rate of the amount of times the horse has traded 50% or lower in running than it’s Betfair SP (BSP) for this pattern or trend.  Colour Coded, see chart.

Welcome Screen New Fields

Added UR4 and Tissue Odds in decimal and power ratings odds (UR1 Odds) are also now decimal.

Power Ratings Downloads

We have moved to a new server for downloads, so we can secure the main site after Google changed some rules a few months back.

For you it is seamless this update takes care of it but you NEED to do the update because once we secure the site (soon) the old version will not download power ratings automatically.

Auto Non-Runner Removal Tool

Auto update welcome screen tick box added to non-runner removal tool

This is generally for those linking welcome screen selections to BF Bot Manager so that non runners trigger new bets and selections on the welcome screen are updated and then the BF Bot auto updates them.

When ticked in conjunction with auto non-runner removal it will update the welcome screen.

NOTE: if you have a lot of systems every time a non-runner is found you will get a lag or wait cursor while the welcome screen updates.

Quick Hide on Notifications Screen

This was for me really as I always click not on top and notifications off when I open Proform and got sick of three clicks

Race Course and Going Filters

Info:

The race course and going filters tab allows you to restrict your searches to specific courses and goings.

Courses

Use the course list to restrict your research to one or many courses.

You can quickly select just Left Hand or Right Hand courses by using the two buttons under the course list. You can quickly select just courses with specific characteristics by using the five buttons under the course characteristics heading. You can also quickly untick or tick all courses by right clicking inside the list.

Actual Goings

Use the actual goings list to restrict your search to races run on the actual goings you choose. he actual going is based on the race times recorded at each course on the day of racing.

On many occasions it differs from the official going and is a more accurate reflection of what the going was at any given meeting. Mixing the ticks and unticks in the actual and official going lists can cause odds results, so it is best to use one or the other. You can quickly untick or tick all actual goings by right clicking inside the list.

The actual going can not be used in a saved system that you wish to find qualifiers for. This is because the actual going is not known until after the races are run.

Official Goings

Use the official goings list to restrict your search to races run on the official goings you choose.

The official going is what was officially reported. Mixing the ticks and unticks in the actual and official going lists can cause odds results, so it is best to use one or the other. You can quickly untick or tick all official goings by right clicking inside the list. The official going can not be used in a saved system that you wish to find qualifiers for.

This is because the official going is not known until after the races are run.

Sires record at a specific going using the system builder

Info:

Based on the breeding traits it inherits from its parents, with the right tools, we can determine a horse’s genetic preference for a particular going, distance or course.

With this knowledge, the punter is afforded a distinct advantage when trying to determine which horses are suited to race conditions based on their breeding.

In this series of videos we will show you how you can use the system builder feature to determine a sires record at a specific going in the Proform Professional Software.
