Hide a horse on every racecard view, and take it out of the maths
A lot of members work through a race one view at a time: the ratings first, then the form, then the collateral lines, ruling horses out as they go. Until recently that meant crossing a horse off on one tab and then trying to remember you had done it on the next. One member told us he used to keep track with a pencil and paper.
On the RaceMetrics racecard, a horse you hide stays hidden on every view of that race. The video above works through a sixteen-runner sprint handicap at Pontefract.
Hide: work the race down to a shortlist
Every horse's row carries a small hide button under its name. Click it and the horse drops out of the table and into the Hidden strip under the view tabs. Move to Form Expert, At-a-Glance, Collateral, Draw & Pace, My Card or any other view and it is gone from there too, so each view you open shows only the horses still in contention.
Click a name in the strip to bring that horse back, or Show all to start again. The list is remembered for that race for two weeks on the device you set it on, so you can leave the race and come back to it.
Hiding leaves the figures alone
Hiding is for your eyes only. A hidden horse is still in the race, so the field size, Win%, Place% and the each-way terms all keep counting it. In the video, the figures on the Ratings view are exactly the same after three horses are hidden as they were before.
Exclude: take a horse out of the maths
To change the figures, use the exclude box on the Ratings view: the red tick box beside Place%. Tick it and that runner reads excl, Win% and Place% recalculate over the horses that are left, and the each-way terms follow the smaller field.
In the Pontefract handicap, excluding one runner takes the field from sixteen to fifteen and the each-way terms from four places to three. Every place chance on the card falls, because there is one fewer place to pay, while the win chances rise a little.
The two controls do different jobs and work independently: hide changes what you see, exclude changes the sums. Use either, or both.
Who can use it
Hide and exclude are on every plan. Free members get them on the one meeting a day the free plan covers, and every meeting from Basic upwards. Collateral, one of the views shown in the video, is an Enterprise view.
