Future racecards: the entries with RaceMetrics Ratings, days before the declared card

by Simon Walton

RaceMetrics now shows the entries for every British and Irish race days before the declared racecard is published. From the five-day stage onwards, every horse carries its RaceMetrics Ratings, so you can start working on a big Saturday on the Monday.

Finding the entries

On your dashboard, the date strip now runs further ahead. A date with entries carries a stage tag: five-day, four-day or overnight. Pick a date and its meetings appear as tiles beside the declared cards, each meeting marked with its stage. The usual filters (handicap, runners, class, prize and age) work on the entries too.

The entries card

Open a race and you get the full list of entries. With any paid plan, every horse carries its current RaceMetrics Rating, along with the ratings for its trainer and jockey, all rolled into one Combined Score, the same score you see on the racecard. The top Horse Rating and Combined Score in the race are picked out in gold.

Alongside them you see each horse's age, its weight with any penalty marked, its official rating and how it ran last time. Click a horse to open its form lines underneath, exactly as on a normal racecard. Every column can be sorted.

Entries change, and the card keeps up

Horses come out, jockeys are booked at the four-day stage, and the draw arrives with the overnight declarations. The card is read again through the day. Horses taken out stay at the foot of the list, greyed out, so you can see who has gone, and the change log underneath records every change in plain words: a jockey booked or changed, a new weight, a new number, a horse taken out, an off time moved, a race divided.

Moving round the day

The race menu lists every meeting and race on the day, and the previous and next race buttons take you through the races at one course or across every meeting in off-time order, entries and declared races together. Once the declared card is published, the race opens on the normal racecard instead.

Download the entries (Proform Premium)

Proform Premium members can download the entries in Data Export. Choose Entries: they cover today to six days ahead. Tick the stages you want, then pick your columns: the race and runner details, the RaceMetrics Ratings and Combined Score, breeding and the last run. Horses taken out stay in the file, marked as such.

Tick Changes file to add a second file listing every change since the entries were published. Preview five rows to check your choice, then queue the export: it is ready in seconds. Save it with Run daily ticked and a fresh entries file arrives at four o'clock every afternoon.

The entries are on your dashboard now.
