SDS vs. Crowley vs. the Field

August 31th, 2016

We would like to think that our blog post of last week is the reason why there is a flow of media interest in this year’s Flat Jockey’s Championship.

A gush of winners from Jim Crowley in recent days has put last year’s winner Silvestre De Sousa (SDS) under intense pressure to retain his crown and there is every chance the battle for the title will be a final dual in late October on Champions Day at Ascot.

However, if media attention is focused on the chase for the jockey title, what of the others?

Well, this year’s Jockey Championship race is framed between the months of April and October, but if you look at the performance of all flat jockey’s over the calendar year thus far (2016), a different picture emerges.

Statistically, Adam Kirby is “da man” and should be top of the pops based on punter friendly metrics.

You can easily run this type of query in Proform in seconds, but for those who wish to look at stats using their mobile device when sat in Starbucks, the Daily Stats area on our web site offers up a whole host of Jockey reports, each of which provide some great insights to counter the uninformed view held by the general betting public.

For example, posted on our web site yesterday was the report below which merges Jockey performance when riding last time out winners which should be always noted when they race again.

So even though Jim Crowley and Silvestre De Sousa are getting all the columns inches at the moment, flying under the radar are a few jockeys you can frame into your own private title race while attention is focused elsewhere.
