Nicholls Three Timer at Cheltenham

March 12th, 2015

The big headline on Day 2 of chetenham races at the festival was the Paul Nicholls three timer of Dogging Bullets in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, Aux Ptits Soins in the competitive Coral Cup and Qualando in the Fred Winter.

2nd rated on the Proform horse ratings, Dogging Bullets had already won the Tingle Creek considered to be a key festival trial at Sandown in December and The Clarence House at Ascot in February.

There were concerns about Dogging Bullets ability to keep his form in the spring coming into the Queen Mother, however Paul Nicholls stated that he had resolved some minor issues that enabled Dogging Bullets to perform to his best.

Of the other Nicholls winners, French import Aux Ptits Soins made the most of his debut on British soil and overcame a few jumping errors to win in an exciting finish.

Aux Ptits Soins looks like an exciting hurdling prospect and Paul Nicholls’s other French Import Qualando topped off a fine day for the yard at 25/1.

Of the other winners on the racecard, the W P Mullins trained Don Poli went into many notebooks, another that was top on the Proform Power ratings.

W P Mullins suggested that Don Poli is a potential Cheltenham Gold Cup horse in the making.
